Select Team
The G7/8 and G5/6 Select teams offer competitive game play and are structured as an add-on to the classic team schedule. Any girl interested in playing for the Select Team must also play on the classic (recreational Sunday games) team. There will be 5 games scheduled for Friday nights plus playoffs scheduled in end of May/June. The Select Team tryouts are as follows:
- Monday, NOVEMBER 4
- Grade 5 and Grade 6
- UPDATED TIME AND LOCATION: 4:00pm - 5:30pm at the little MPF
- Wednesday, NOVEMBER 6
- Grade 7 and Grade 8
- 6:30pm - 8:15pm at MPF (Check in starts at 6:15pm)
Players should expect to participate in skill stations, 1v1 play, unsettled situations (3v2, 4v2, etc) and scrimmaging. Parents and spectators are not allowed at the tryouts.
Playing on the Select Team requires a commitment to attending the 5 Friday night games.
What is the difference between the two teams?
The FGLL classic team is a recreational team that is focused on development. It offers balanced teams of individuals of various skill levels and play time is roughly equal across all players. It is meant to foster growth and learning in a fun and low pressure environment. The FGLL Select team offers opportunity for highly competitive play among girls committed to the sport and interested in playing at a more intense level. Factors like skill level, strategy and game dynamics may/will determine playing time. Play time is not equal among players.
